Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about selling tungsten carbide to VeloCarbide — pricing, logistics, payment and compliance.

Selling Process

How do I sell my carbide materials to VeloCarbide?

Submit a supplier inquiry through our online portal or send an email to sales@velocarbide.com. Provide photos, an estimated weight and a description of the material type. We'll respond with a market-indexed offer within 24 hours.

What information do I need to provide?

For an accurate initial quote: clear photos of the material, estimated weight in kilograms, material type (inserts, end mills, mixed scrap, etc.), approximate condition, and your location. The more detail you provide, the more accurate our initial offer will be.

How long does the entire process take?

From inquiry submission to payment receipt typically takes 7–14 business days. Initial quote is provided within 24 hours. Once agreed, we arrange collection within 2–5 business days. Payment is released upon receipt and verification of material at our facility.

Can I submit an inquiry for small quantities?

Yes. We purchase from a minimum of 1 kg upwards. Smaller quantities are welcome, though logistics arrangements may differ. Contact us and we will advise on the most efficient approach for your volume.

Pricing & Payment

How is the price for my carbide determined?

Our pricing is indexed to the live London Metal Exchange (LME) tungsten reference and adjusted for grade, purity, form factor and condition. We apply a transparent margin and document all deductions. There are no hidden charges.

When do I get paid?

Payment is released within 3–5 business days of material receipt and grade confirmation at our facility. We confirm the received weight and grade with you before finalising payment.

What payment methods do you use?

We pay via international bank transfer (SWIFT/SEPA). All payments are made in EUR or GBP, agreed at the time of offer. We do not pay via cash, cryptocurrency or informal channels.

Will the final payment match the initial quote?

The initial quote is based on described and photographed material. Final payment is based on actual received weight and verified grade. We will always notify you if there is a significant discrepancy between described and received material before finalising payment.

Do you charge for collection or logistics?

For standard consignments, we arrange and cover insured collection at our cost. For small quantities (under 5 kg), we may ask suppliers to ship to us using a pre-paid label we provide.

Material Types

Do you accept mixed, unsorted carbide scrap?

Yes. We accept fully mixed carbide scrap including unsorted tooling, grinding residue, swarf and floor sweepings. Mixed material is priced conservatively but we do not reject it. We can advise on simple sorting steps that would meaningfully improve the value.

Do you accept carbide contaminated with coolant, oil or other substances?

Yes, within reason. Small contamination from cutting fluids and oils is standard and expected. Heavily contaminated or composite materials (carbide bonded to steel, for example) may require deduction. Always disclose significant contamination upfront.

Can you identify carbide grade from photos?

Our team can make grade estimates based on manufacturer markings, geometry and visual inspection. For precise grade confirmation, we perform chemical analysis at our facility. If you have material certificates or manufacturer datasheets, please include them.

Do you buy carbide-tipped tools (HSS with carbide tips)?

We purchase the carbide components only. For carbide-tipped tools (e.g. saw blades, drill bits with brazed carbide), we assess the carbide content and price accordingly. Purely HSS tooling without carbide content is not purchased.

Logistics & Collection

Which countries do you collect from?

We collect from all 11 European markets we serve: Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Poland, Sweden, United Kingdom and Czech Republic. For other European countries, contact us to discuss options.

How is the material collected?

We work with specialist industrial logistics partners for all collections. For larger consignments, we arrange a scheduled collection from your facility with tracked, insured freight. For smaller quantities, we may provide prepaid shipping materials.

How do I package the material for collection?

Standard wooden crates, steel drums or sealed bulk bags are preferred. Loose material should be containerised to prevent spillage. We can advise on specific packaging requirements based on material type and quantity before collection.

What documentation is required for export?

We handle all necessary export documentation, including customs declarations and material certificates. You will need to provide a commercial invoice (we supply the template) and confirm the weight and description of goods. Our logistics team guides you through the process.

Company & Compliance

Is VeloCarbide a licensed importer?

Yes. VeloCarbide operates as a registered importer and complies with all applicable import, export and environmental regulations in India and within European partner countries. We can provide compliance documentation on request.

How do I know the material has been received safely?

We provide tracking references for all collections, confirm receipt via email, and send a material verification report documenting received weight and assessed grade before finalising payment.

Do you sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)?

Yes. For suppliers who require confidentiality around their production processes, material composition or business identity, we are willing to execute appropriate NDAs prior to transaction discussions.
